Principal Required - J.T. Foster High School (Nanton)

Applications are invited from highly motivated educators, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, for the following position in southwestern Alberta. The successful candidate will possess a clear vision for student learning, a commitment to collaborative leadership, a solid understanding of school improvement processes, and sensitivity to community needs.

A Principal is required at J.T. Foster School, located in Nanton, Alberta, a grades 7-12 school with approximately 205 students.

The desired qualifications include the following:

  • Master’s Degree (or in process)
  • Valid Alberta Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certification, or eligibility for same
  • Experience with or an understanding of High School Redesign
  • Commitment to establishing positive working relationships with parents and community partners
  • Willingness to explore innovative approaches to learning
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of and a commitment to an inclusive learning environment
  • The capacity to provide collaborative leadership in an environment of change
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of flexibility
  • A student-centered approach to learning
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with current assessment practices
  • An understanding of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will begin on August 24, 2020.

A Principal is required at F.P. Walshe School, located in Fort Macleod, Alberta, a grades 6-12 school with approximately 430 students (includes the Crossroads Outreach School also located in Fort Macleod).

The desired qualifications include the following:

  • Master’s Degree (or in process)
  • Valid Alberta Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certification, or eligibility for same
  • Experience with or an understanding of High School Redesign
  • Commitment to establishing positive working relationships with parents and community partners
  • Willingness to explore innovative approaches to learning

  • An understanding of and a commitment to an inclusive learning environment
  • The capacity to provide collaborative leadership in an environment of change
