Capital Projects in Nanton and at PEAKS Collegiate Campus Move Forward
Posted on
Major capital projects in Livingstone Range School Division are progressing, bringing the Division closer to new educational spaces and programming opportunities.
Construction is officially underway for the Nanton New & Modernized Schools project. Perimeter fencing is in place and earthworks are preparing the site. The Division hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on September 18 where Trustees, representatives of the Town of Nanton, M.D. of Willow Creek, and the Nanton Enhancement Committee participated in the celebration. Blackfoot Elders Maurice and Betty Ann Little Wolf offered a blessing on the site for the new and modernized schools. Also in attendance were representatives from GGA Architects, Alberta Infrastructure, and Shunda Construction, the prime contractor for the project.
The work of building a new K-6 elementary school and modernizing the current A.B. Daley Community School building to become the Grade 7-12 high school is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027. Visit www.lrsd.ca/nantonschools for the latest updates.
In the Crowsnest Pass, work is beginning on the PEAKS Collegiate Campus addition project. Contractor Elevate Construction Partners is mobilizing on site this week to begin construction of a 488 square meter addition that will add contemporary programming space alongside the current building. PEAKS Collegiate Campus for Environmental Science provides students with career-connected educational pathways through innovative partnerships between Livingstone Range School Division, Lethbridge Polytechnic, and industry partners.
The Division is grateful to Alberta Education for their support and making resources available for this project. The PEAKS Campus site will be closed for the 2025-2026 school year, but place-based programming will continue in locations across the Division. It is expected that construction of the PEAKS Collegiate Campus addition project will be completed in June 2026. For more information, visit www.peakscampus.ca/capitalproject.
“These two projects represent a significant investment in student opportunities and success today and into the future,” says Jeff Perry, Associate Superintendent of Business Services. “We thank the Alberta government and the LRSD Board of Trustees for their commitment to our students through these major capital projects.”
