National Indigenous Peoples Day 2022
Posted onJune 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples!
To celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day 2022, schools across our Division will honor the day within their own context, which may include inviting Elders, knowledge keepers, and community leaders to share their experiences and teach about Indigenous ways of knowing and being; learning about the 7 Traditional Teachings; experiencing land-based learning as they hike through the traditional territory of the Blackfoot People; and storytelling, games, dancing and a variety of learning activities to enhance staff and students' appreciation for the richness of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit culture.
We’ll share photos of these activities on our social media, so stay tuned!
As a Division, we understand that shared meaningful learning opportunities benefit all students and support the process of reconciliation. Click here to find out more about Livingstone Range School Division's First Nations, Metis, and Inuit programs and services.
