On Tuesday September 26, 2023, the Southern Alberta Interscholastic Leaders (SAIL), including some leaders from the Livingstone Range School Division (LRSD), gathered at PEAKS Campus in the Crowsnest Pass to learn new skills in team-building activities and brainstorm ideas in preparation for the upcoming annual leadership conference in May, which will be hosted by SAIL at the University of Lethbridge.

SAIL is a group of high school students across southwest Alberta who want to be involved in leadership and make an impact in their schools and communities. SAIL meetings first started in 2022 and are now continuing to gather new high school representatives each year.

At the meeting, students participated in an “amazing race,” a friendly competition that involved archery, canoeing, starting a fire, catching organisms in the river, and other activities related to teamwork and survival. In the afternoon, the students discussed ideas to make improvements to their schools and plan activities that will support the themes of the year-end conference
