"What are you doing this summer?" Fair

Posted on

The "What are you doing this summer?" Fair held at Willow Creek Composite High School in Claresholm on March 25 was designed to connect students with summer opportunities to work or volunteer in our community.

With more than a dozen local non-profit organizations and businesses taking part, students enjoyed a wide selection from which to choose. Fair organizer and school Career Practitioner, Lettie Croskery, opted for a “speed dating” format where students selected a table to meet with, listen to the presenter and even interview and apply on the spot, before the old school bell rang and they moved on to a new table! Within 30 minutes, students would have had between 4 or 5 meaningful conversations about current or future opportunities in our area.

“We are so pleased to host an event like this in our school," says Lettie. "It is important for students to meet directly with potential supervisors and learn what might be expected of them in a work or volunteer setting this summer”.

If you would like to participate in future career events, please contact Lettie Croskery at 403-915-0781 or croskeryl@lrsd.ab.ca
