4-Day School Week Project Receives Top National Award

Livingstone Range School Division’s exploration of a 4-day school week has been recognized as an exceptional Canadian communications and stakeholder engagement project. Karly Bond, Coordinator of Communications, Culture, & Engagement for Livingstone Range School Division, accepted a BRAVO! Award of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Communicators in Education (CACE) for the 4-Day School Week project.
“With an investment of approximately 1300 staff hours, we believe this represented the most thorough exploration of a 4-day school week in Canadian history,” says Superintendent Sean Beaton. “Not only does this award acknowledge the extensive nature of the project, it also is a well-deserved recognition of Karly’s professional skills and leadership that she brings to the Division.”
After nearly a year of stakeholder engagement, scenario development, budget forecasting, research, and reporting of a potential 4-day school week, on February 25, 2025 the Livingstone Range School Division Board of Trustees voted unanimously to defeat a motion proposing a 4-day school week for all Division schools.
Bond, who has won two other CACE BRAVO! Awards, is gratified that the project has received this recognition. “The 4-day school week project was an incredible team effort and an opportunity like no other,” says Bond, who gives credit to former Superintendent Darryl Seguin for his leadership on the 4-day school week exploration. “To receive the top national award in education communications and engagement for our work is a true honour.”
The BRAVO! Awards are the only national program recognizing excellence in K-12 school board communications, including public relations, marketing, and engagement. A panel of accredited communications and public relations professionals outside of the education industry judges the nominations in four categories: Coup de Coeur, Crisis Communication, Award of Distinction, and Award of Excellence. The awards are presented each year at the CACE national conference gala, this year held in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 18, 2025.
