Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce that Corby Potyok has been appointed as the Acting Assistant Principal at W.A. Day Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year.

Corby holds Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education degrees from York University and has been teaching since 2006, including for the past 6 years at W.A. Day.

Principal Dave Fender knows that Corby is a great fit for school administration. “Corby is thoughtful, intelligent, reflective, musically talented, and a genuinely kind man,” says Dave. “He has a gift for making all of his students feel important. His passion for teaching and the individual attention he provides students is appreciated by not only the students, but also by their parents.”

Corby first became interested in teaching at a young age while working with his father as a junior instructor at his music school. He was further inspired by his grandfather, a vice principal of a Creston, BC high school. He is excited and honoured to take on the role of Acting Assistant Principal at W.A. Day.

“I look forward to learning and growing with the amazing community that makes up our school,” says Corby. “I recognize that the success of our students is a team effort by students, parents, and educators and I aim to continue to inspire and contribute to the educational excellence that LRSD provides.”

Corby and his wife moved to Alberta to be closer to family, and since moving here have grown to love the area for its camping, hiking, and endless sunshine.  He enjoys playing music with his family and friends and dabbling in various computer programming languages.

“The  W.A. Day School community is lucky to have Corby Potyok serve as the acting Assistant Principal for the 2022-2023 school year,” says Dave.

Congratulations to Corby on his new role!
