The Livingstone Range School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Sean Beaton has been named the division’s new Superintendent of Schools.
Beaton holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, a Certificate of Ecological Education from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master’s of Education in Curriculum Teaching and Learning from the University of Calgary. He has more than 25 years of educational experience. Most recently Beaton served as Assistant Superintendent with Grasslands Public Schools in Brooks, Alberta, where he provided leadership in student mental health, outreach and alternative education, educational technology, and inclusive education.
“The success of our schools begins with strong leadership,” says Lori Hodges, Board of Trustees Chair. “By hiring a new Superintendent, we are investing in the future of our students, our educators, and our community - ensuring that every decision is guided by experience, vision, and a deep commitment to excellence. Sean is wholly committed to making student-focused decisions, which aligns with our vision of ‘Every student, every day.’ We are confident that he will build important relationships across the division, and lead us together into a strong future.”
With a passion for the unique strengths of rural communities, Beaton is committed to leadership that is inclusive, innovative, and responsive to local needs. “I am drawn to the work that connects system-level leadership with what matters most: the day-to-day experience of students, staff, and families,” he says. “I believe innovation in rural settings comes from listening well, thinking collaboratively, and identifying opportunities that fit the unique context of each community.”
Beaton is honoured and excited to join Livingstone Range School Division. “I recognize and respect the leadership and deep commitment that have shaped LRSD to this point,” says Beaton, “and I am grateful to be building on that foundation. I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside Trustees, staff, students, families, and community partners to support a strong, vibrant future for Livingstone Range School Division.”
A husband to Laurel and father to sons Patrick (22) and Andrew (15), Beaton loves to cook, spend time on the lake with his family, hike, and bike. He will assume the role of Acting Superintendent in early August and will become the official Superintendent when current Superintendent Darryl Seguin’s contract ends in mid-September.
Congratulations to Sean Beaton on his new role, and welcome to the Livingstone Range School Division community.
