Ward 3 Trustee Lacey Poytress Resigns

At the Board of Trustees meeting held August 11, 2025, the Board received the resignation of Trustee Lacey Poytress, Ward 3 Trustee and Board Vice Chair. The Board acknowledged her service and contributions as a Trustee since the general election in October 2017 and wished her all the best in the future.
According to the Alberta Education Act, Section 81 if a vacancy occurs in a board with six or more trustees in the 3 years immediately following a general election the board may determine if the vacancy is to be filled (with a by-election) or wait until the next general election. The LRSD Board of Trustees will continue to operate with six trustees until the general election in October 2025. Trustee Brad Toone was elected as Board Vice Chair until that time.
